Your key responsibilities

The nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. That means you’ll need to think on your feet and challenge existing practices to develop answers to complex issues. You’ll also be collaborating with colleagues across multiple service lines, so we’ll look to you to build relationships and identify opportunities for our clients to benefit from our knowledge in other areas.

 

  • Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) and the ability to analyze the client’s complex accounting matters against these standards ensuring that an appropriate accounting conclusion is reached
  • Consult with clients on complex accounting issues
  • Consult with appropriate external and internal resources on complex accounting issues
  • Conduct training with clients and auditors on technical accounting matters
  • Lead and participate in multiple engagement teams within Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS)
  • Collaborate with the partner and client to determine a strategy that appropriately addresses risk and manages client expectations relating to deliverables
  • Ensure that the FAAS engagement team understands the client's needs and expectations and that the work product is client-focused, clear, accurate and well-presented
  • Understand the client's industry and recognize key performance drivers, business trends and industry developments
  • Ensure work is delivered timely and in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Work with other service lines to provide an integrated service delivery
  • Oversee engagement economics and manage appropriate resources for efficient engagement models
  • Participate in sales of new Financial Accounting Advisory Services work
  • Develop and maintain long-term productive client relationships and networks.
  • Cultivate and manage business development opportunities. Generate new business opportunities by understanding EY and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to apply knowledge and services.
  • Coach and develop people by sharing knowledge with team members and helping team members attain experiences that cultivate technical competencies.
  • Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback/on-the-job training

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Advanced presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs)
  • Ability to research and solve complex accounting problems
  • Ability to clearly and accurately document accounting analysis in technical memos
  • Proven ability to lead a team and develop business opportunities
  • Knowledge of business trends, emerging technical and industry developments
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills
  • Able to manage multiple engagements and deadline-driven

 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • An Accountancy qualification (ie. ACCA, CPA, RA)
  • Minimum 6-8 years of related work experience in the external audit field
  • Experience in insurance and banking industries would be an asset
