The Factory Manager is responsible for the complete oversite of the day to day running of the factory plant and administrative Office. This person is responsible for the safeguarding of all finished foods inventory, production materials and the overall security of the factory, staff, and environs. This individual is required to provide the leadership and training to the factory staff to motivate employees to do their absolute best. The Factory Manager will ensure that the company’s policies and guidelines are adhered to and reports directly to the Managing Director.

Job Duties / Responsibilities:

 Supervise ALL staff as it pertains to each position, ensuring that company protocols and policies are being followed.

 Supervise the administrative functions of the plant office.

 Ensure Security Standing Orders and gate control protocols are being adhered to.

 Adhere to and maintain all AEO and Covid 19 protocols.

 Ensure that the provisions in the collective labor agreement are adhered to.

 Ensure Quality Control standards and good manufacturing practices are being adhered to.

 Purchasing – Local and Foreign in conjunction with the Managing Director.

 Provide leadership and training to the Team and conduct performance appraisals.

 Prepare monthly forecasts and scheduling of production.

 Ensure that company’s production targets and operational budgets are met.

 Monitor all raw material and packaging and finished goods, ensuring that the “first in, first out” (FIFO) method is used to ensure proper rotation.

 Maintenance of Plant, equipment, and spare parts inventory.

 Ensure that consumable supplies and utilities are efficiently used.

 Ensure that all pressure equipment is certified as stipulated under the factory act for the factory inspectorate and insurance purposes.

 Ensure that the forklift and standby electric generator are serviced according to pre-determined schedules.

 Coordinate the dispatching of goods to ensure efficient deliveries.

 Minimize trucking and detention charges. Ensure that the company is compliant with the requirements of the Bureau of Standards, F.D.A. and Public Health Department to be certified annually for re-registration.

 Re-register annually with JAMPRO under the MOI Program.

 Re-register with the Factory Inspectorate as required.

 Liaise with JMEA for certification letters for waiver of duties on importation of goods not available locally and regionally.

 Liaise with the following Agencies from time to time:

o Ministry of Health

o Bureau of Standards

o Food storage & Prevention of infestation

o Ministry of Labour


o Her Majesty’s Customs

o Public Health Department

 Maintain the plant and property by ensuring that the grass is cut regularly, trees groomed, and garbage is disposed of.

 Travel on behalf of the company when required to do so.

 Be able to work extended hours and on weekends when the need arises.

 Any other task assigned by the Managing Director.


 Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)

 Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in manufacturing.

 Knowledge of production and shift scheduling.

 Intermediate- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)

 Excellent communication skills

 Proven ability to make sound decisions and problem solving in a variety of situations.

 Ability to prioritize projects and stick to a strict deadline.

Working Conditions:

 Normal hours are Monday – Friday (Days)

 Will be required to work beyond normal working hours.

 May be required to work weekends and public holidays.

 Will be required to work Saturdays to perform sanitation.
